We are a third-generation, veteran-owned HVAC company. Our journey began with Alyssa’s grandfather, Dennis W. Mayes, a U.S. Army veteran, who started the family in HVAC back in the 1960s. In 1994, Dennis began an accelerated HVAC program and later taught Alyssa’s father, Kevin Rougeau, the HVAC trade. Kevin obtained his contractor's lice
We are a third-generation, veteran-owned HVAC company. Our journey began with Alyssa’s grandfather, Dennis W. Mayes, a U.S. Army veteran, who started the family in HVAC back in the 1960s. In 1994, Dennis began an accelerated HVAC program and later taught Alyssa’s father, Kevin Rougeau, the HVAC trade. Kevin obtained his contractor's license and founded Rougeau Inc. in Memphis, TN. He later moved to East Tennessee and opened East TN Heat & Air. After selling East TN Heat & Air, Kevin pursued teaching Dennis’ class to future HVAC technicians under Tennessee Valley Technical Programs. Kevin instilled the same principles in James that Dennis did for him years before: to be led by God and to remember that we are in the PEOPLE business. We are here to serve others and keep them comfortable in their homes and businesses. James joined the family business in high school, helping Kevin with East TN Heat & Air while Alyssa managed the office and dispatching. After serving in the U.S. Army, James returned to the HVAC trade, working with local companies. In 2022, he and Alyssa founded what we now know as True Comfort Heat and Air.

He’s also a proud dog dad to his dachshund, Dixie.

In 2003, he incorporated his business and became Rougeau, Inc. in Memphis, TN. In 2014, he moved to East Tennessee and began operating as East TN Heat & Air. He operated and managed his HVAC business for more than 20 years. Today he is a mentor to True Comfort while also teaching at his trade school, Tennessee Valley Technical Programs.
